how effective is the robasch? i have used the robasch defence (1. b3 e4. 2 Bb2 e5). i have used this in 5 games in which i have won 3 and lost 1 and drew 1. i would like to know how effective you find using this technique. you can do many variations on this and turn it into an attack as well so please feel free to experement with it and let me know how you find it. thankyou.

also challenge me if you wish and ask me to use it or use it against me.

Hmmm.... Something a bit iffy about your published move order......

When does Black get a chance to move ? Four consecutive White moves should be able to beat most Defences !!!

It is a long time since I played the Robatsch Defence but I seem to remember the move order for Black was 1.....g6 2......Bg7

Kind regards,

craigaosborne Dear friend,

Maybe I'm wrong and Robatsch was the first master that used this opening. But GM Aaron Nimzowitsch and GM Bent Larsen used it so often than many opening specialists call 1.b3 the Nimzowitsch-Larsen Opening or, more simply, Larsen Opening.
